I first wrote this novel in 1990. It was accepted by a London publisher but then, after weeks of deliberation, rejected because a central premise of the plot was "most unlikely". In the light of certain shocking revelations in the media over the past few years, that central premise is not only very likely but actually happened! That is why I decided to resurrect and rewrite a work I am fond of, and which is more relevant and believable now that when I first wrote it.
